Mrs. Burton Shepherd teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students, focusing particularly on nutrition, acute medicine, advanced assessment and public health/primary care. She has recently been appointed as module leader for the pre registration Primary Care Options Module and is a deputy module leader on both the Post Qualification Minor Ill Health Course and the module leader for the Pre Registration Primary and Intermediate Care Module. She is on the Editorial Board of Complete Nutrition, Network Health Dieticians and is also a reviewer for the Journal of Advanced Nursing, Nursing Times, Nursing Standard, British Journal of Health Care Assistants and Journal of Family Practice.

Mrs. Burton Shepherd is a member of the Scientific Committee for the annual International Nutrition and Health Conference, taking a leading role in the planning and organisation of the event as well as the dissemination of its outputs. Her work has resulted in the publication of over 70 clinical nutrition reviews.

Dike O. Ukuku got his Ph.D. Food Microbiology from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, 1995. He is a Fellow of King-Chaves-Parks Future Faculty, 1993, and a Fellow of Japan Society for Promotion of Science, 2006. He was invited to the Membership of Science Advisory Board, 2009-present, a Gold Medalist, for Outstanding public Service 2009, USDA-OPEDA Unsung Hero Award, 2010, Outstanding Technical Achievement for Food Safety, 2012 Award. Has authored or coauthored more than 60 publications. He is on editorial board membership of three scientific journals, has numerous invitations to act as an in depth subject matter expert for manuscripts submitted to scientific journals, as well as Grant programs including USDA’s SBIR phase 1, BARD and 1890 Institutions

In 1990 I graduated in Biological Science at the University of Valencia and remained there to undertake a PhD under the supervision of Consuelo Guerri at Research Institution (Instituto de Investigaciones Citológicas), which I completed in 1996. During my PhD my dissertation was “Changes of astroglia intermediate filaments gene expression during rat brain development: Effect of alcohol exposure”. I analyze the events which occur during the early stages of astrogliogenesis during brain development, using “in vivo” and “in vitro” experiments. I did experiments in cells in culture primary as radial glia (stem cells in brain), astrocytes and neurons. In 1997 I joined Eva Qwanstrom’s group at the Hallamshire Hospital (University of Sheffiel) in Sheffield, UK and spent three years involved in the identification of an adhesion-regulated subunit of the interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor complex. I was working in immunology, cytokines, inflammation processes and matrix regulation of IL-1 responses. In 2000 I returned to Spain at Department of Physiology, Medicine Faculty of Valencia. University of Valencia and I were appointed to a part-time position as Lectureship. In 2004 I was appointed to a fixed-term position as permanent University Lecturer at this department in the University of Valencia. During this time I was involved in the mechanisms of oxidative stress in the generation of Alzheimer’s disease with Jose Viña’s group. Also at this time I developed my lectures with Luis Such’s group with who I learned a lot about physiology and how to do a correct lecturer to pupils in my our department. At this moment I work in Alzheimer’s diseases and in inflammation and oxidative stress mechanisms. Also I would like to work in precursor cells and the subsequently ability to further differentiate into neurons and astroytes inside the brain. I order a grant from my sanity government and I still waiting for the resolution grant, about stem cells and brain.

EFFECT OF ESTROGENS, PHYTOESTROGENS AND RESVERATROL IN ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

Latifa Abdennebi-Najar has completed her PhD at University Pierre& Marie Curie in Life sciences (Paris, France) and postdoctoral studies at National Institute of Agriculture (INRA) and National Institute of Health (INSERM) in France. She is the director of EGEAL research Unit (Gene Expression and Epigenetic Regulation by nutrients) at LaSalle Institute (France). Executive board at France National networks (ANTIOPES, ANSES). The organism is indeed able to modify its program of development based on the perception of the availability of substrates present in the external environment. These adaptive phenomena \"metabolic programming\" occurs especially during periods of development in utero. The integration of nutritional requirements by the body is achieved thanks to the endocrine system that translates environmental information by changes in hormone levels. Among these hormones, recent studies of particular importance argue the fact that leptin, a cytokine mainly produced by adipose tissue, could play a key role in the programming of appetite and general development. A new perspective of using postnatal leptin treatment in the intra-uterine growth retarded babies to alleviate defects of programming is discussed in this lecture.

She has completed her Sci. Dr at the age of 27 years from Tokyo Institute of Technology. She was an assistant at Showa University School of Medicine, a research fellow of Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University and then a professor of Nagoya Bunri University. She is an honorary professor of Nagoya Bunri University and a senior researcher of Biomedical Institute, NPO Primate Agora. She has published more than 33 papers in reputed journals.

Their body temperature was controlled by increased evaporation of sweat and reduction of body hairs to help water evaporation. At night, however, cold in the glacial period stimulated the adrenergic nervous system and increased thermogenesis through the newly appeared energy-expense alleles of the ADRBs to help the protection of entrails by higher body temperature. The increased total energy expense might have been supplemented by hunting large animals. After these energy-expense alleles spread among them, they migrated out of Africa. Then, we can see the energy-expense alleles in the world in high frequency.

She is currently working Associate Professor in Celal Bayar University-Engineering Faculty- Department of Food Engineering. Kazim Sahin, nutritionist, graduated from School of Veterinary Medicine, Ankara University in 1990. He is working for Firat University.
